Richard George Haws

Richard George Haws, January 2, 1956 - December 12, 2014 Haws, Richard G., 58 years old, loving husband, friend and beloved soul mate of Jessica Marguerite, was given to the Lord on December 12, 2014. Rick passed away peacefully, at home, with his wife Jessica of 21 years and close friends by his side as he made his final journey. After a short but courageous battle with cancer, Rick had to say good-bye. Rick was the beloved son of Marjorie Haws and the late George Haws. Rick is survived by his beloved wife, Jessica, his mother Marjorie, and his sister Susan (Steve) Sommers. Rick’s sisters-in-law Melinda Pinfold (James), Nicola Markey, Kathyrn Markey (Tom), Jeanne McMahon (Bill), Royce Markey (Tony), and Ellen Westphal (James) mourn him, and will miss him. Rick was also beloved as an uncle and a great uncle to many nieces and nephews. Rick was a master craftsman, and the owner of George Haws and Son for over 35 years. He was well respected throughout Deerfield, Illinois and the entire North Shore for his exquisite work. After marrying the love of his life, Jessica, Rick soon learned to enjoy the finer things in life such as travel, bowling, and the theatre. His interests in new experiences continued to grow. Rick’s mission in life was to insure the happiness of others, especially those who were close to him. After many visits to Arizona, Rick and Jessica fell in love with the landscape and lifestyle of the Southwest. In 2006, the couple moved to Maricopa, Arizona, fulfilling a promise that Rick had made to Jessica years prior. He had a beautiful home built in Maricopa, and he oversaw every detail of its construction - from time to time, even correcting the tradesmen! Rick knew his talents, and he was truly amazing at whatever project he was involved with. Rick was meticulous about details, an admitted perfectionist, but he was always a gentleman and a gentle man- Rick was our Miracle Man! All who knew Rick, and especially those who were with him throughout the last months of his life, will attest that Rick had great strength and showed tremendous courage as he endured the terrible hand that he was dealt. Throughout his life, Rick welcomed and cherished many new friends, each of whom had a special place of affection, deep in his heart. All of us will miss his quick wit, his humor and his beautiful smile (with those “movie star” teeth!). Rick’s death has left those who loved him with heavy hearts, and he will be missed by us all. In lieu of flowers, per Rick’s wish, donations to Banner Hospice and St Jude’s Hospital for Children would be appreciated. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held at Lady of Our Grace Church 45295 West Honeycutt Ave, Maricopa Date January 28,2015 at 2pm.
