Albert Rulon Carroll

Albert Rulon Carroll, 86, was born Dec 4, 1927 in Kanab, UT and died Sept 28, 2014 in his home in Gilbert, AZ due to the effects of old age. He was the oldest of eight children born to Rulon and Elsie Carroll. He is survived by one brother, Donald, and by four sisters, Marlene Hall, Lucille Wood, Clara Mae Brinkerhoff, and Margaret Green. His deceased brothers are Clarence and Charles. His wife, Joan Bingham Carroll, preceded his death by two years (Sept 6, 2012). He is also survived by 3 sons, David, Steve, and James, and 2 daughters, Janet Litster and Jolene Allen, and 25 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. His childhood and youth were spent in Orderville, Utah, where he helped his father run the family store. He moved to Emmett, Idaho as he started his senior year in high school. The fall after his senior year of high school, he was recruited and served in the U.S. Army as part of the post WW II Japanese occupation for 18 months. He was honorably discharged. He then served an LDS mission for two years in the Central States Mission. He married his wife, Joan, in the Logan Utah temple on Sept 9, 1953 in a triple wedding with his two younger brothers and their wives, Donald and Reta, and Clarence and Jane. Using his GI Bill, he graduated from Utah State University with a BS degree in Agriculture. He worked the family dairy business in Emmett, Idaho until the Spring of 1977 when he and his three brothers started a roofing business and moved to Gilbert, Arizona. The last part of his career he worked for Shamrock Dairy in the calf division for approximately 10 years. He was known for his faith, duty, loyalty, and service to others. He was not a man of many words but showed his leadership by example and diligent work. He was a keen shopper and would stock up on the specials and would show his love by sharing his food with family members. His home was always a magnate to his posterity where all would come to relax and feel loved. Ice cream was always found in his freezer. Funeral services are provided by Legacy Funeral and will be held Friday, Oct 3, 2014 at 10:00am at the Gilbert Ward LDS Chapel located at 1050 W Elliot in Gilbert, AZ. Viewing available Thursday evening, Oct 2, 2014 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at the same location and the morning of the funeral at 9:00am.
