Barbara Ann Wolf

Barbara Ann Wolf, age 73 of Sun Lakes, AZ passed away peacefully on March 16, 2013 with family at her side. The Lord called her home after a long, courageous battle with ovarian / brain cancer. Barbara, born on February 12th, 1940 and raised in Bedford, OH relocated to the southwest in her early twenties becoming a devoted wife and loving mother to her two sons Gregory and Douglas Wolf. The family was raised in Gallup, NM where Barbara was involved in many community, school, and social activities centered around family and close friends. While in Gallup for about 18 years she became an avid golfer, completed a degree at the University of NM, worked as an advertising consultant, became an accomplished artist and photographer all the while keeping family and friends at the top of her priority list. In the early 1980’s Barbara moved to Rio Rancho, NM where she continued her passions in life; golf, family, and socializing with her many friends. As was the case in Gallup, she became very active in the ladies golf association at Rio Rancho, organizing and participating in numerous tournaments and related activities. She co-authored one of the first comprehensive golfing guide books for New Mexico golf destinations. In addition, she became a loving and devoted “Nanny” to her grandchildren in 1992. In the late nineties, Barbara relocated to the greater Phoenix area to be closer to her parents, eldest son Greg and his family, and her sister Pat. Again she continued her passions for golf, friendships, and a keen interest in the stock market and investing as she spent her time in the desert sun. In her later years, she became active in the Palo Verde Ladies Golf Association in Sun Lakes, AZ. playing lots of golf and enjoying the friendship and fellowship of many new and loving friends. In Barbara’s last two years of life her devoted and loving sister Pat watched over her, comforted her and took care of her needs for which the family is very grateful. Everywhere Barbara went and in all things she did, people were drawn to her positive, bubbly personality and her winning smile. She adapted beautifully to all situations, whether it was the remoteness of the Navajo Reservation around Gallup, the extreme heat of the summers in AZ, or salmon and halibut fishing on a small boat on Cook’s inlet in Alaska. She will be dearly missed by all. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents Wilbur and Lois Bush. She is survived by; her loving sons Gregory and wife Sue of Chandler, AZ and Douglas and wife Annette of Albuquerque, NM. , grandchildren Mikaela, Madison, Steven, Tyler, Courtney , and Rachel (Erik) Denning, great -granddaughter Madelyn Rose Denning, sister Patricia Smith of Sun Lakes, AZ / Denver, CO. and former husband Walter Wolf of Gallup, NM.
