Diane Kay Bailey

Diane Kay Bailey Diane, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, was born January 4, 1944 in Niles, Michigan. The daughter of Henry and Julia (Miles) Hergenrader, she lived in Niles until the age of 9 months. The family, including Diane's three brothers, then moved to Lincoln, Nebraska. Diane attended Havelock Elementary School and Northeast High School, where she was a cheerleader and enjoyed spending time with her many friends. While at Northeast, she began dating her future husband, Doug Bailey. Diane was employed at Lincoln Telephone, Hinky Dinky and enjoyed working for 15 years at Norden Laboratories. She and Doug had four children, Julie, Debra, Scott and Amy. She and her husband moved to California in 1990, where she worked at Olive View Hospital in Los Angeles and later moved to Acton, California. Upon retirement, she and Doug moved to Show Low, Arizona. She loved to have family visit her, wherever she lived. Her great love of animals was demonstrated by the many dogs and cats she loved and cared for over her lifetime. Her cheerful disposition was not dampened by a diagnosis of breast cancer in 1996. She bravely came through the cancer treatments and encouraged all those around her by her upbeat spirit. She came to know the Lord in 1955 and attended Havelock Bible and Rosemont Alliance Churches in Lincoln, Lancaster Bible in Lancaster, California and First Baptist Church in Show Low, Arizona. She always desired to learn more about Jesus and the Bible. When cancer reappeared in 2008, she again bravely endured the many treatments and doctor appointments. Each remission showed her family that she was a miracle lady and blessed by the Lord to remain with us on earth for a while longer. At her final doctor appointment, she cheerfully declared to the doctor "besides this cancer thing, I feel great!" To her last day here on earth, she loved music, both listening and singing along. Her sweet and happy voice always telling those she loved how much fun she was having, how good the food tasted and how thankful she was for everything. Her lasting example of happiness will always be on her family's hearts. She went home peacefully to eternity with her Lord on November 9, 2013. She is survived by her husband, Douglas A. Bailey, of Show Low, Arizona; daughter and son-on-law, Julie and Jack Bruce, of Lawrenceville, Georgia; daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Rick Brady, of Peoria, Arizona; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Merrily Bailey, of Lincoln, Nebraska; daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Hector Saenz, of Peoria, Arizona; 11 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. Diane is also survived by her mother-in-law, Thelma Bailey; brothers, Steven Hergenrader and Rick Hergenrader; brothers/sisters-in-law, Roger and Donita Bailey and DeLyn and Connie Caspers.
