Pamela Ann Watson-Scott

Pamela “Pam” Ann Scott (née Watson), 63 years old, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 27, 2015, at the Lund Family Hospice Home-Hospice of the Valley in Gilbert, Arizona. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends, and many supporters carried her through a grueling, eight-month battle with Vasculitis. Despite her failing health, she always had a ready smile, a kind word, and reassurances that no matter how her own struggle ended, the people around her would be “OK.” Pam was born on March 27, 1952 in Chicago, Illinois. She grew up in Detroit, Michigan and enjoyed life with her myriad of friends and family. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ida Mae Hamilton; sister, Shirley Watson-Owens; two stepfathers, Richard Watson and Arthur Hamilton, Sr.; and two stepbrothers, Kenneth Hamilton and Arthur Hamilton, Jr. She leaves to mourn: her beloved daughter, Eboni Anderson; Eboni’s fiancé, Daryl Traylor; one sister, Ann Drader; two brothers, James Watson and Michael Watson; several stepsisters, Barbara Peeples, Gale Hamilton-Wilson, and Tracy Hamilton-Davis; a host of nieces and nephews; in-laws, friends, and acquaintances. Known for her ease in frequent conversation, even with total strangers, some may be surprised to learn that Pam was extremely introverted as a child. Even still, she possessed a contagious smile, remarkable candor, a wonderful sense of humor, and a very high level of intelligence. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and humble demeanor, which won the trust and hearts of many who even now are being changed by witness of her steadfast nurturing love and faith. Her signature gifts of joy and optimism, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and good humor, will never be forgotten. After graduating from Cass Technical High School as a chemical/biological sciences major in 1970, Pam attended Wayne State University. She started her civilian career with the Detroit Police Department in 1971, and retired as a Supervisor in the Fingerprint and Identification Section in 2001. Pam met her dear, sweet “BFF” (best friend forever), Shirley Braziel, very early in her career at the Detroit Police Department. Shirley introduced Pam to her brother, Derrick Anderson, in 1974. The couple was married a couple of years later on August 28, 1976. To this union, Eboni was born in 1978 and the three of them had a very special bond that could not be broken. Although Pam and Derrick divorced in 1981, they remained best friends until Derrick’s passing on November 25, 2006. On April 18, 1987, she married Frederick Scott, and even though they eventually divorced, Pam and Eboni were an integral part of the Scott family. Possessing a true servant’s heart, Pam was baptized at Detroit Baptist Temple in 1990. She faithfully cared for family and friends through delicious cooking and baking her renowned peach cobblers from scratch. As a woman of faith and the heart of her family, Pam loved others unconditionally and set the example of what it means to be considerate, supportive, compassionate, and eager to learn. With a real zest for life, Pam loved to read (her favorite book was “Little Women” by Louisa May Alcott, along with hundreds, if not thousands, of true crime books), write, sing, dance, pray, watch various TV programs and movies, play games/cards, chat with friends and family, and travel locally, nationally, and internationally…just to name a few. Nine years after her retirement, Pam moved to Arizona to be with Eboni and Daryl. Her life as an Arizonan lead to meeting more friends and traveling to more places, including California, Hawaii, Texas, Nevada, Illinois, and Bermuda. In her 63 years, Pam lived a life that was full of love, kindness, compassion, and adventure. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. If there is one thing that we can do to honor Pam’s memory, it would be to do a loving act of kindness, make someone laugh, send a card, give a hug, or say, “I love you” to your family or friend.
