Robert Earl Patrick

Robert Earl Patrick, age 62, of Chandler, Arizona, went to his home in heaven following a long fought battle with Parkinson's disease on Monday, May 23, 2016. He passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family, his wife Karen Wentland, daughters Stefany and Kathryn Patrick and the mother of his daughters Donna Patrick. Robert was born in Lima Ohio on January 22, 1954, to Grover C. and Dolores Patrick. He graduated from Lima High School in May 1973 and had been employed at Teledyne Ohio Steel prior to moving to Phoenix, Arizona, in 1974. Robert worked at various places in the Phoenix area until he landed a job at Garrett, now Honeywell Aerospace, as a machinist specialist and enjoyed a 30 year career there building many airplane engines and parts that are still flying today. His true spirit came from making others laugh. He shared his joy and good nature with everyone. There was no such thing as a stranger when he was in the room. Robert loved nothing more than involving himself in his children's lives. From church caravans, coaching little league sports, and frequent camping trips he was always there. When he wasn't spending his free time with his family he enjoyed peace of mind in hunting, fishing and tinkering on a project in the garage. The real fire in his soul came from riding on his Harley. He enjoyed nothing more than the wind blowing in his face and the sound of his engine with a long road ahead. Even though Parkinson's stole his mobility and voice it never stole his spirit. He always was the most positive person in the room with sparkling eyes and a gleaming smile up to the very end. In addition to his wife and daughters, Robert is survived by his sons Jason and Mathew Patrick, his brothers Michael (Linda) Patrick of Ringgold, GA, and Dennis (Tammy) Patrick of Lima, OH, and his favorite uncle Jimmy (Nan) Patrick of Delphos, OH. He was preceded in death by his parents Grover and Dolores as well as his sister Patricia Patrick. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 31st, with visitation beginning at 6:30pm followed by a service at 7:00pm, at Legacy Funeral Home, 1374 N. Arizona Avenue, Chandler, AZ 85225, phone 480-963-6200. Per his wishes, he will be cremated and his remains will be brought back to Lima, Ohio, in October 2016 for graveside services and final burial.
