Patti Lou Riches

With love and sorrow we announce the death of Patricia (Patti) Lou Riches, 84, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Patti was born April 16, 1931 in Ft. Laramie Wyoming, and died January 21, 2016 in Sun Lakes, Arizona. Patti was the daughter of Carl E. and Neva L. Pomeroy. She graduated from Lingle Wyoming High School in 1949. She married Deen Edward Riches (deceased) of Idaho Falls, Idaho on August 1,1952 in Denver Colorado. She and Deen originally settled in Boise Idaho then subsequently moved to Utah and spent many years living in the Salt Lake City area. Patti and Deen enjoyed their retirement years traveling in their motorhome throughout the western United States, finally settling in Yuma Arizona where she was a volunteer with Hospice of Yuma for 10 years. After Deen’s death, she eventually moved again to northern Utah until 2012 when she relocated to the Phoenix Arizona area. There she enjoyed the constant company of family, as well as many wonderful friends in the Southeast Valley Women’s Club. She also volunteered with Hospice of the Valley in Phoenix. Patti had many interests, among them learning “anything new”, birding, reading and volunteer work, but her passion was for her family most particularly her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a constant, positive presence in their lives, and they are all richer individuals because of her lifelong influence. She is survived by her son Joe and wife Peggy Riches of McCall, Idaho, her daughter Carla and husband Don Llewellyn of Sun Lakes, Arizona, her brother Larry and wife Maxine Pomeroy and their family of Florence Arizona, seven extraordinary grandchildren; Jason, Kaysha, Neva, Jolene, Robert, Andrew and Kathryn and eight+ wonderful great-grandchildren: Micah, Zoey, Finn, Olivia, Greysen, Joe, Sai, Sylvia and soon Vivianne. Niece Mary Figueras and her husband Rich held a special place in her life and in her heart. According to her wishes, no funeral will be held. At a later date, a scattering will be conducted in the red rocks of southern Utah followed by a private interment next to Deen at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Idaho Falls, Idaho. The family would like to acknowledge and sincerely thank Patti’s wonderful hospice team; Heather, Tracy, Angie, Ken and Shawn without whom the final leg of her journey would have been much , much more difficult. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in Patti’s name to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014.
